about maurice:                Maurice Baker 'Paintings and specialist frames'

maurice.jpg (4978 bytes) I was a production planning engineer at Rolls Royce diesel engine division at Shrewsbury for 25 years. The last few years there I was deeply involved in the programme to set up a bran-new factory for the production of large V8 and V12 diesel engines for military use.

Hobbies included, photography, nature and painting.

In 1983 I did what many people just dream about doing, I left my job as a senior production engineer and turned one of my hobbies into a business by opening a small studio with two other artists at St. Julian's Craft Centre in Shrewsbury selling original paintings. This soon expanded into a workshop offering an extensive framing service and a larger studio selling original paintings and prints. Well over 10,000 of my prints now hang on walls all over the world.

With the closure of St. Julian's craft centre in 2001 I retired from the framing business and assisted Gil Martial, who worked with me for 14 years, to set up a framing service in The Parade Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury. I now act as a framing consultant to
Gil Martial Framing.

Prints of my work are on sale at "Gil Martial Framing" and "Hobby Horse", both are in the Parade Shopping Centre.
